personal blogs

August 15, 2007

i feel kind of weird about posting blogs about personal stuff in a blog entitled “animals in the press.” i was trying to create another page within this blog (see “about this crazy weblog” and “who are you” pages) in which i could post blogs about personal stuff to keep the main page about animals in the news. however, the other pages only support one body of text, not a whole other blog.

my question to you is, and i’m really looking for feedback here, would you prefer i kept the personal stuff out? now, don’t try and change my mind about what the content of THIS blog is about; it really is supposed to be about animals in the press, veganism, and things related to such. i could potentially write a whole other blog page (different web address and everything) with just personal stuff, but i imagine that might get a little boring. i am, in fact, a pretty boring person. dresses and harry potter are not related to animal rights or veganism, so i don’t think they belong here. but i’ll leave that stuff here if you want me to.

what do you think?

I always enjoy learning about you. I like the mix of personal and activism.

a mixture is perfectly fine by me, but i guess i was too dense to realize that you had set out with a particular purpose here. whoops. heh.

I guess it depends on where you see this blog going. Do you imagine it ever becoming a “Must Read” blog for activists? If so, then separate out the personal stuff and have it be “professional.” It can go into another wordpress journal or maybe…. start using LJ so that you have better control over who can read it :-) Or, *shudder* do the personal entries on MySpace.

If you do another wordpress blog, you could link to it using the right-hand column features or even on the About This Blog page. Then people that read this blog can “opt in” to get to know you personally.

I think it’s good to mix the two; the activism aspect can get heavy/intense/depressing at times so it’s nice to have a little diversion every now and then.
